LIGHTHOUSE REBORDIÑO

The lighthouse was approved in 1902, its project was entrusted to the engineer Salvador López Miño, it was built between 1906 and 1907 and was inaugurated on September 1, 1909. Its objective was to reinforce the lighting of the Louro lighthouse, and thus facilitate the entrance to the Walls port. Initially it was a solid red light and had a range of 6 miles. Its slender tower, 8.4 meters high, gives it its own personality, since, in addition to being separated from the building and joined to it by a small balcony (built fifteen years later), it is the only one made of cast iron among the Galician lighthouses. . It has a residential air as it is placed on one side of the house, instead of on its façade; this was so decided by the little land available. The building is on two floors and is U-shaped; on the lower floor are the rooms intended for the service of the lighthouse, and on the upper floor the house of the keeper, which is quite large.

The lighthouse was automated in 1924 with a project by the engineer Mauro Serret, having a range of 7 miles and modifying its appearance to work with flashes; It was then used as a home for the technician who attended all the lights of the Muros estuary, installing at that time the walkway that connects the lantern of the lighthouse with the roof of the building. At present it depends on the Port Authority of Vilagarcía de Arousa, and is uninhabited.
